Blank Slate Creamery of Ann Arbor, Michigan issued an allergy alert on undeclared egg in a vegan, non-dairy frozen dessert sold in 4.5-ounce clear plastic packages. The FDA notice identifies the affected product by a "Best if Used By" range running from 8/4/2026 to 12/12/2027.
"Vegan" is a recipe claim, not a safety guarantee
This is the part worth internalising. A "vegan" or "plant-based" label describes what the recipe is meant to contain. It says nothing about what actually ended up in the tub if something went wrong upstream — a mislabelled package, a shared filling line, an ingredient swapped by a supplier.
